This research presents an innovative design for E-plane bandpass filters aimed at enhancing their stopband performance. Conventional filters often suffer from insufficient attenuation and a narrow second stopband, which limits their effectiveness in advanced applications such as diplexers . To address this limitation, the paper proposes a novel structure that utilizes a metal insert within the waveguide to form a series of resonators with unequal ridges . This configuration creates coupled resonant sections, each possessing a different cutoff frequency and characteristic impedance . A five-resonator X-band filter was designed and simulated using the proposed architecture to validate its performance . The numerical results demonstrate the clear superiority of the new design, achieving high attenuation of over 50 dB across a broader frequency range in the stopband and shifting the spurious second passband to a significantly higher frequency compared to conventional filters . The study concludes that this approach not only improves the electrical performance substantially but also contributes to reducing the filter's physical dimensions while maintaining compatibility with simple manufacturing processes .
