إن ثورة تكنولوجيات المعلومات والاتصالات التي أثرت على كل نواحي الحياة في جميع أنحاء العالم.. يدفعنا إلى التركيز على قرصنة البرمجيات التي تعتبر مشكلة عالمية يتوجب محاربتها. وحيث أن سوق البرمجيات في الأردن حديث.. فهو يمثل بيئة مناسبة لتتبع عملية القرصنة، كون هذا السوق محدوداً وتسهل دراسة النماذج التي تصف هذه الظاهرة والعوامل الرئيسية المسببة لها. تتميز هذه الدراسة عن غيرها بانها دراسة عربية تركز على عامل الادراك والوعي في عملية القرصنة. حيث أن كثيراً ممن يعتبرون متخصصين في الحاسوب يمارسون القرصنة بدون وعي أو إدراك إنه عمل غير أخلاقي وغير قانوني. وهذا ما أكدته نتائج هذه الدراسة. كشفت هذه الدراسة النقاط الخفية المتعلقة بعامل المعرفة والإدراك عن معنى القرصنة وممارستها.
