Abstract

Development is a comprehensive process that aims to revitalize society economically, socially, culturally and environmentally, and requires the participation of all members of society, male and female, as it benefits them. The concept of development has evolved to become more comprehensive, linked to achieving social justice and developing human resources, with a focus on women’s participation and equality between them and men, as confirmed by international conferences.
In Yemen, development faced many challenges, such as increasing population growth and illiteracy among women, which led to the need to pay attention to education, qualification and training. With freedom from the restrictions of the imamate and colonialism, Yemen sought to achieve comprehensive development, and achieved successes in integrating women, despite its limitations compared to other countries, due to prevailing social customs and traditions. Yemeni unity and support from international conferences have strengthened the status of women and their effective participation in the development process
